Queen Latifah
Dana Elaine Owens also known as Queen Latifah is an American musician and rapper. Her work as a music actor, filmmaker and TV performer has won an impressive two Screen Actors Guild Awards and two Image Awards. She also won a Grammy Award and six other Grammy nominations. Queen Latifah was raised in Newark, New Jersey. Her parents are Rita Owens, Sr. and Lancelot Owens Jr. The couple divorced when Latifah aged 10 years old. Latifah was a student at a Catholic school and received her education in Newark New Jersey. She attended the Baptist church. In her early twenties when her mother gave her the stage name Latifah, which means tender and gentle in Arabic. Latifah, a 5'10" tall power forward for the team at her high school, was always a tall girl. The song she sang was"Home" from The Wiz at a performance in high school.
