Winona-Ryder
Winona Ryder, professionally Winona Ryder, was born on Winona Minnesota. The name of her parents was derived from the town she grew up in. Her father Michel Horowitz and her mother Cynthia Palmer were authors and editors. Ryder's dad was born into an ethnically Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. Ryder has the title of being the younger sister of Uria as well as half-siblings Jubal & Sunyata. Ryder relocated with her family to Mendocino County California at the age of seven. In the area, there was no electricity. Ryder was an avid bookworm and spent most of her time reading books as there was no television. Ryder, then 12, was enrolled in the American Conservatory Theatre for acting classes in 1983. In 1986, she was offered her first major-screen appearance in the movie Lucas at just fifteen years old. Ryder faced bullying during high school. Her acting career, she hoped, would help her. It didn't work out. However, she continued to pursue her dreams. In 1988, she got her biggest break with Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder had a successful role in several films. She received nominations for two Academy Awards one for her role as a character in The Age of Innocence (1993).
